Collectible Barbies as an Investment

When people think of the art of collecting few people realize the potential resale value of collectibles. Many collectors look upon the art of collecting as an investment and each type of collectible whether it be stamps, coins, comics, memorabilia or diecast cars has a history, a science, and an art which collectors inherently become involved in when collecting.

When people think of Barbies few people realize their true potential value as a collectible. A Barbie Doll which was purchased in 1972 for $19.00 can fetch upwards of $150 dollars and much more on auction sites on the internet. During tough economic periods the price people are wiling to pay for collectible Barbies drops drastically as it does with collectibles in general. For those who can afford to purchase and hold onto collectibles barbies it becomes a sound investment strategy.

A little research on Amazon or Ebay will illustrate the fact that any particular Barbie can be listed with
huge variations in pricing. In point of fact people do purchase Barbies for higher prices. The keen eyed
collector will often purchase the lower priced Barbie and resell it for a significantly higher price.

In contrast to becoming involved in other types of collecting, collecting Barbies does not require a degree in
rocket science. Collecting Barbies is a joy in and of itself but can become financially rewarding even for the novice. In short in takes far less time to become a educated Barbie collector then with other types
of collectibles and the rewards can be just as lucrative and immediate.

Few will deny that the Barbie Doll is a symbol of American culture. Who could possibly had envisioned
that a simple idea would blossom into product which survives to this day as an icon of childhood
as cherished, purchased, and revered as much as any other product in History.

Welcome to the world of Barbie Collecting. Happy Hunting!
